How can I get investors for my on-line social network?

Hello,

My partners and I believe we have a very good Social Networking idea - however, we do not have the money to create a good site on the net. Does anyone have any good ideas of how best to "get investors"? We are not in the business field - any help would be appreciated.

It really depends upon how much money you need. Professional investors (like Angels and Venture Capitalists) usually don't want to invest below a certain amount of money. For example, VC's usually won't get involved below $1-2 million. Angels tend to invest hundreds of thousands.

If you only need a few thousand, you best bet is to find friends and relatives, or save up the money and do it over a period of time. Have each partner put in maybe a couple of thousand dollars.

It's my belief that if all the money comes from the outside, you won't take it seriously. Investors think the same way ... they will want YOU to have some "skin in the game."
